Tina Louise

Tina Tina Amanda AmandaMaureen excelled at sports and was fascinated by rough and athletic game. The passion for sports was matched by an unnatural talent for performing. This was apparent when she was awarded each Feis to show and play in Ireland. Maureen was a part of the Abbey Theater by age 14, where she continued to pursue her passion for performing in classical and opera. Charles Laughton was mesmerized after watching a Maureen screen test. He became captivated by the beauty of her eyes. Before casting her to star for the role in Jamaica Inn (1939), Laughton as well as his co-star Erich Pommer, changed her name from Maureen FitzSimons to "Maureen O'Hara" - a bit smaller last name to fit the marquee. Maureen was under contract with Laughton to film her next film in America with RKO Pictures (The Hunchback of Notre Notre Dame 1939). The film's epic scope became a massive success and her contract was transferred from Laughton through RKO. Maureen Laughton had been on two motion-pictures before she reached 19.
